As a college student, how do you feel about the use of technology?
Let me pose a few questions to get started: Are you required to use technology for your classes? Does technology enhance your learning experience? How does technology fit into the social interactions with your classmates?
One of my students last semester said, "One of the largest draws to going to college is the experience. The dorm life, the classes, the interaction. If all college courses were online, that experience would not exist. Similarly, if college life became computerized, what would be next? Jobs, other learning/school experiences...doctor appointments (if biology classes that needs labs can do it, why not?)...what's next. We can already order clothes and other necessary items online. Would it get to the point that we would never need to go outside? We'd either have special individuals who deliver our packages, or we'd just advance the computerized systems and technology so that everything would be made by machines/robots? I know it sounds a little extreme, but the question is, where does it stop and where are we headed?"
What do you think ? . . .

Technology is a huge part of college life. It is present in just about every aspect of our daily lives. Geting our card swiped at clinton or the Sundowner, Doing research for Papers due in class, talkin to our friends through instant messaging or e-mailing our professors about being absent from a class. All of these are different forms of modern technology and i dont see it effecting us in any way but a positive one. I dont see it ever coming to the point where people dont leave thier homes anymore simply because advancements of technology. Technological advancements are a part of life and we have no choice but to adjust as time goes by.
I agree that technology is a major part of the college lifestyle. It's almost sad how dependant we are on technology to go about our daily lives as students but it does enable us to be more efficient. Communicating with professors, downloading homework, studying, or reasearching it is a good thing to have on your side as a student... however, regarding the future of technology i hope i never get to see the day where all college, and work, and commerce is done online because there will be no more human to human interaction anymore and everyone will become very detached and autononomous.
And the computers will take over the world!!!lol
The fact that technology is so advanced than it was two years ago is amazing. Having the ability to e-mail professors and get a reply almost instantly, submit homework online, no paper necessary. Although there is a downfall to all of this, the cost of a decent computer that is compatable with the lastest necessary programs. There is only so much financial aid will cover.
Without a doubt, technology is very important to college. Being able to use a card for any of your needs, submitting homework from home, and being able to find extra data on a project. Of course, there are downsides. Such as if you need to turn in an assignment from home, but your computer is one the fritz or if you have a different version than what the college needs you to have. All in all, we do need technology to get by nowadays.
Technology is a HUGE necessity in this age. We rely more and more on technology. We always need to stay connected by the use of Blackberries and wireless internet access. However, as I had come to quickly learn this weekend, we have to be careful as to how much we truly rely on technology, because it may never work.
If we do let "computers take over the world" then we really won't have much to do. We'll have our computers and futuristic robots do everything for us. But, how will we make the money to feed our families if machines do everything for us. That's all I wondered as I watched some of the futuristic movies out there. How are these people making money when technology does all the work for us?
Without technology half of the things we do at college couldn't occur. If you just think about it, everyday we use some technology in our daily routine-dining halls, getting into buildings, typing papers, researching on the internet etc. The biggest surprise to me is how some classes rely so heavily on computers and online assignments through ANGEL. It not only makes the teachers lives easier, but the students can learn from their dorm room (it can be good or bad). Without technology, many aspects of college would be totally different.
Technology on campus is intertwined with almost every activity there is on campus. If you want eat or enter a building or check class updates you must rely completely on technology. This tends to pose a lot of problems. Because technology continues to change so rapidly, it is hard to keep up with all the updates. I simple way to describe this would be the soda machines on campus.Last year the machines had a raising conveyor belt system. This year the machines have been replaces with a even more advanced beverage system. The problem is is that these new machines tend to have a lot of problems and im sure its because they are new and all the kinks have yet to be worked out. This is just a simple analogy that can be compared with the rest of the technological world. I believe that people should always continute to advance machines that are already working fine as it is. As they say, "If it is not broken, dont fix it."
Technology is an important aspect in college life. Whether you are submitting an assignment on ANGEL, or simply talking to a class mate on IM, you are forced to use technology. You can even go through a whole class without taking notes because you are able to obtain off of the internet. Without technology, a college student and campus would not be able to function properly.
Technology is a main part of society today it is rare to see any one individual with out a cell phone. Phones today are being carried by children as young as 8. What does this mean? Our society is technologically dependent.
Technology is by far one the most important aspects of the school system. We use technology to write papers, research information and send information. Sharing information through the web has changed the world we live in and helped the student in all parts of the world gain access to any information they would ever need. It also gives the average student a gateway into different subjects and areas of study they would have never expected to use.
I think technology has both improved campus and student life and hindered it as far as interperonall socialization. While it helps us connect digitally and over the internet, it seperates us physically and makes our socialization methjods different and less personal (in my humble opinion). As a whole though I feel it has taken us much further than we would be without it, and it is a great tool that we all should and do take advantage of every day.

Technology is a huge part of college life. Probably the main source of communication between the faculty and students is through e-mail and faculty websights. Also, more and more online courses are becoming available. Teachers also use Angel as a major source of running there class. Without the internet you couldn't even register for classes.
Computer and technology literacy skills are extremely crucial for students in today's day and age. Even now, I am sitting in a classroom surrounded by computers occupied by students logged into Angel. Technology helps students communicate with classmates and teachers as well as acquire research for their papers, etc. (not to mention word processing their papers as well).
Here in college and as well as almost every other part of the world technology is a huge portion of how things get accomplished, whether in a big multi-national business or just a local corner mart. In college we use a large variety of different things based on technology, some that many don't even realize. Swiping your card to get into a building, using an elevator, computers, T.V.'s, ipod's, everything you can think of comes from the roots of some sort of technology. And everyday it is getting more and more advanced and helping to get more things done faster and easier.
Technology is definitely a huge part of our lives here in college. From the cards that we use to get into our dorms and get food at the cafeterias, to the computers that we are using to post the comments on the blog, we are completely immersed in technology. Just about everything we use require technology; cars, cell phones, computers, even getting our food cooked--we really need modern technology to live the way we do.
Technology has a great impact on college life today. Computers and other electronics are used in many different class today and things like email are essential in dealing with communication. Without technology, I do not think that college would run as smoothly.
I believe in college life technology is everywhere and is used for eveything. I am a business major, having a laptop is a requirement. I am on my computer everyday because all of my classes operate through it. Operations like e-mailing people for various reasons and using Word for papers are a huge part of college. Teachers even using the computer to test students in some classes. Technology is everything in college
Technology has turned out to be an essential part of our everyday college life. The use of technology has made life easier for both college students and professors. Students can easily contact professors which allows for easier communication. The use of technology in colleges plays an important role in conserving our environment through the introduction of E-books. The new Policy which limits students to only 300 prints a semester has increased the use of Angel and e-mails to submit assignments as such cutting down on the use of paper. Though technology is very essential on campus, it has reduced the face to face interaction of students which i feel is not great. Students make friends on facebook without even knowing the identity of the person and the potential risk that person might cause. Technology on campus is great and would be most efficient only if we use it the right way.
Technology plays a huge role in college life. It helps us get into the dorms, eat at dinning halls. It protects us with the warning system or the blue lights. Now many professors are using technology to help teach their class like the Angle course managment system. Even professors who do not use Angel are contacted via E-mail
